Redding Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

Present:  Doug Milhous, Tom and Susie Morehouse, Doris Bond and Joanna Mooney

Review and Approval of Minutes:  Minutes from November’s meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Doris report we have $1,388.27 in our account.  He have not yet received our money from the Methodist Church for the Brunch.  Recent contributions made were $50 to the CROP Walk and $10 for the Spanish translation of the PYM Advices and Queries.  Doris will be making additional contributions towards the end of our fiscal year.  

Ministry and Oversight:  Joanna has decided to commit herself to Zen Buddhism and is  withdrawing her membership in Monthly Meeting.  She doesn’t feel like she has been able to fulfill her commitment to Meeting.  M&O has met with Joanna.  Joanna would like to continue as an attended and when she can come she will contact us for a ride.  With much regret, Friends accepted her withdrawal and will look for her letter making her withdrawal formal, as it has to be forwarded to PYM.

Dinner Among Friends for January 7 will be at the Morehouses at 6 pm.  It was decided we would hold a Show and Tell or Perform a talent evening.  This would entail Friends sharing something that is important to you or showing off a talent.

Interfaith Report:  The next meeting of this group will be in January, when the Season of Non-violence begins.

New Business:  In light of our recent discussion regarding becoming an affirming and welcoming church for people who are LGBTQ, Friends today adopted the following Minute on behalf of the Redding Friends Meeting:

        “The Redding Friends Meeting is an open and affirming faith group, welcoming everyone                 without regard to gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, social position or disability.”

Susie will contact Megan to schedule our next clean up day at Turtle Bay Park.  Doug distributed pamphlets from Sacramento Meeting asking others to consider using products that are labelled Fair Trade.  NOTE:  Tom had earlier in an email sent this information along with the “Welcome to Redding Friends Meeting”.  Hard copies have been and will continue to be available at Meeting.
