Old-Fashioned Pumpkin Cookies

5 c all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp baking powder

2 tsp cinnamon

1 1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp salt

1 c softened butter

2 1/2 c sugar

2 c pumpkin (solid pack)

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1 c chopped nuts

Mix dry ingredients, set aside. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add  vanilla, eggs and pumpkin. Mix in the dry ingredients until smooth. Stir in nuts.

Drop by rounded Tbsp onto a greased cookie sheet or parchment paper, smoothing the tops of the cookie with the back of your spoon.

Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool.

Frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, soft

1/4 c butter, soft

1 tsp vanilla

1 c powdered sugar

Cream first three together until fluffy, then add in powdered sugar.  Add to cookie tops with a frosting applicator, or using a ziplock bag with the corner cut.  Decorate as you like.
