Bug Reporting

For everyday bugs:

For complicated bugs:

Try to remember to put “Guns Bugs: ” at the beginning of the subject.

How to get Unity client logs:

Windows: Go to C:\ProgramFiles\Steam\steamapps\common\guns of icarus online\GunsOfIcarusOnline_Data, look for output_log.txt.  Replace “C:\Program Files\Steam” with the location of your steam install if it’s someplace funny.

Mac OS: Go to Users\[USERNAME]\Library\Logs\Unity, get Player.log. Replace [USERNAME] with your username.

How to get debug info (FPS and RTT):

Periodically we send out surveys asking about performance and other things, so while you’re playing, please take a moment to note a few numbers for us!

If you press the backtick/backquote key while in-game (`), you'll get a bunch of debug information. We're interested in the framerate (FPS), and the round-trip time (RTT), which are the first two numbers in the upper left corner.

If you can check those a couple times and make note of the general range, it'll be a big help to us. Thanks!

Basics

Controls

From the start screen, or in-match ESC menu, select “Options” -> ”Keyboard/Mouse” -> “Edit Keybindings” to see a full list of mouse and keyboard controls.

While you’re here you may want to check out the video options, where you can experiment with turning quality settings down or off if you need to improve the game’s performance.

Voice chat

Tip: Coordinate with your crew and teammates for maximum effectiveness in battle!

Gunning

        Gun Skills

When on a gun, your skill bar will display equipment that can be used on a gun. Press the appropriate number key (2-4) to reload the gun with selected ammo. The triggered reload time corresponds to ammo clip differences. Press 1 to return to default ammunition and  clip size of the gun.

Tip: Not all guns can sustain the special ammos, so use with care!

Repairing the ship

Repairing a component

When a component is damaged, start a repair by clicking it once with a repair tool equipped. The health will be applied immediately, and a cooldown counter will start. The component cannot be repaired again until the cooldown is complete.

Rebuilding a destroyed component

When a component is destroyed (at 0 health), rebuild the component by clicking repeatedly with a repair tool until the gear is full.

Tip: Multiple people can work together to rebuild a destroyed component faster, but not to repair a damaged / cooling down one!

Armor and hull health

Damage to the ship will first deplete Armor, which can be repaired, and then Health, which is depleted when armor is at 0 and cannot be repaired. When hull health reaches 0 the ship is destroyed.

Tip: Keep armor in good repair to protect your hull’s health.

Buffing

The DynaBuff Kit is an engineering skill that can be used to boost properties of components on the ship.

Buffing works similar to rebuild: in order to buff a component, click on it repeatedly with the DynaBuff Kit equipped. Like a rebuild, multiple crew members can also pitch in to help finish a buff faster.

Buff effects will only last for up to 120 seconds and will decay over time, so if you want to keep the effects active, you will need to revisit the components periodically and rebuff them.

Buff effects are:

Flying the ship

Helm controls

Press E to mount or dismount the helm.

While on the helm, use A and D to steer, W and S to control altitude, and R and F to control throttle up and down.

Helm skills

When on the helm, your skill bar will display only equipment that can be used on the helm. Press the appropriate number key (2-4) to immediately apply a skill effect. Press 1 to return to normal status (no skills applied).

Tip: Many of the helm skills have negative side effects that can damage parts of the ship, so keep an eye on your ship health and be careful not to overuse these skills!

Spotting enemies

Using the spyglass

With the spyglass tool equipped, right click to enter scope view.

Use the mouse wheel to increase and decrease the magnification.

Left click on a an enemy ship to spot it.

Spotting is shared across teams, so you will see spotting indicators on any ship that someone on your team has spotted. Spotted enemy ships also appear on the Map tab (hold M to bring up the map).

Tip: AI crews prefer spotted targets!

Remove spotting with cover

You will see an eye icon in the upper corner of your screen when the other team has your ship spotted. Put distance between you and enemy ships, fly out of their line of sight, or fly into cloud cover to remove any active spotting on your ship.

Crew Orders

The commander, first player on the ship, can set shipwide priority status using the function keys. Ship status is shown by the three icons in the upper right corner of the screen.

Tip: If your commander had disconnected or abandoned the ship, hold TAB to see who’s the delegate commander from the scoreboard!

Note: On a Mac, if you have enhanced function keys enabled (volume/brightness controls, etc.), you may have to press fn + function key to use commands.

F2: All Guns (bullet icon)
