THE CHIMES // Distributor

Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Chimes distributor is responsible for distributing the Chimes to the various departments and bins located around campus each week. The ideal candidate is punctual, dependable and a confident driver.


  1. Pick up the Chimes from behind Metzger Hall and transport them around campus, delivering the appropriate amount to each department and bin on Thursday mornings or early afternoons, depending on the paper’s arrival.
  2. Learn how to drive the Duplicating Center’s cart through a one-time training session with Facilities, and use the cart in the delivery process.
  3. Make sure that the bins are clean and orderly, removing and recycling leftover issues every week.
  4. Report to managing production editor about any changes in circulation, delivery, etc. Make sure all stations on campus requesting papers receive the appropriate number.

Supervision received: Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor

Supervision of others: No direct supervisory responsibilities.


General: Responsible, hard working, willing to work with the sometimes-varied arrival times of the Chimes.

Education and experiences: At the time of election or appointment, must attend or accepted to Biola as a full-time student. Prior experience working with newspapers, yearbook, magazines or prior work, class experience, or journalism is preferable.

Hours worked: 3 hours per week until the end of the semester (This is a stipend-based position, with a $30 a week for an estimated 13 weeks. This amount subject to change.)
