Little Rock Chapter American Christian Writers 2011 Writing Contest Anyone can enter!

Contest 1: Short Story Fiction – 2,000 words or less Prizes: 1st – $50; 2nd – $25; 3rd – $15

Contest 2: The Arnold Family Foundation Non-Fiction Contest – 500-1,200 words Any type of non-fiction. Prizes: 1st – $50; 2nd – $25; 3rd – $15

Contest 3: The BLESSED Devotional – 500 words or less Entries submitted will be considered for Karen Jordan’s book of devotions called BLESSED. www.karenjordan.net Prizes: 1st – $25; 2nd – $15; 3rd – $10

Contest 4: Lawrence May Poetry Contest – 12-48 lines Any type of poetry that includes a reference to a grandparent or grandchild. Winning poems will be published in The Grand Connection blog. http://grandconnection.blogspot.com. Prizes: 1st – $25; 2nd – $15; 3rd – $10

Contest Guidelines:

All four contests are free for LRACW members who have paid dues for the 2011 fiscal year. All other contestants must pay a $3 entry fee per contest entered.

Only one typewritten, unpublished manuscript may be entered in each category.

Content must be appropriate for our mission: to honor God with the writing talent He has given. Nothing sexually explicit or graphic.

Please do not submit entries which you have paid to have professionally edited.

Use standard, double-space manuscript form.

On the manuscript indicate which contest you are entering and the title of your work, but not your name. On a separate cover sheet, include your name, contest category, and title of work.

All entries must be received or postmarked by May 2, 2011. Send entries and contest fees to Carole Geckle, c/o FamilyLife, 5800 Ranch Drive, Little Rock, AR 72223. Entries can also be emailed to LRACW@yahoo.com if contest fees are mailed separately to the above address. Entries will not be considered for judging until fees are received (deadline, May 2).

Awards will be announced at the 2011 Writers’ Conference on May 21. Winners of Contests 1 and 2 must be present at the Conference to win.
