Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG) is a career development course with four main goals: leadership development, civic awareness, social awareness and career exploration. Students achieve these goals by participating in community service projects, fundraising, guest speakers, field trips, and in class projects. Students will also build after high school survival skills including job attainment, job survival, leadership training, financial literacy, self development and personal skills.

Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG) is a career development course with four main goals: leadership development, civic awareness, social awareness and career exploration. Students achieve these goals by participating in community service projects, fundraising, guest speakers, field trips, and in class projects. Students will also build after high school survival skills including job attainment, job survival, leadership training, financial literacy, self development and personal skills. JMG II focuses on life after high school, including graduation, post secondary education options, work & military options. Seniors are required to participate in a 12 month follow up portion, maintaining communication with the JMG specialist after graduation.

Course Description:

This course will give students applying to a two or four year college an opportunity to focus on the college application process during the fall semester.  With a step-by-step, in-class approach, students will engage in in-depth research and learn what it takes to navigate the overwhelming application process; students will engage with guest speakers that are relevant to the topic; students will be guided through the financial aid process; and by the end of the course have a clear understanding of how to be successful in the college setting.
