1 sleeve saltine crackers
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 package (2 cups) chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional), I used almonds but pecans would be good too
Preheat the oven to 400F, and line a 10" x 15" pan (with a lip) with foil. Spray with cooking spray. Cover the cookie sheet with a single layer of saltines.
Bring butter and brown sugar to a boil in a skillet. Boil and stir for 3 minutes.
Pour over the saltines, spreading evenly.
Place in oven and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven, caramel mixture will be boiling and molten, allow to cool 3 minutes. If crackers have shifted, push them back together with a fork.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee and let sit for about 5 minutes to melt.
Once the chocolate has melted, spread evenly and sprinkle with nuts. Press the nuts gently into the chocolate. Let cool then place in fridge to harden.
Once hard, break the candy into small pieces and place in containers.
