[Nick Carter] I grew up with violence and drugs.

Berlin (dpa) - The North American singer Nick Carter (31), member of the Backstreet Boys, blame his parents on his alcohol and drugs addiction.

During an interview for "In" Magazine he said: "My brothers and sisters grew up i a home with violence, drugs and alcohol. That's what life was for me and I lived that way. From that to the point where everything fall out of the rails was just a matter of time." This way of life almost took him to death. "Backstreet Boys have proved to be my real family, they were always there for me and helped me change my values," Carter said. Musically speaking, he's living his best moment with his second solo album "I'm Taking Off", that will reach the stores next June 3rd.
