The meeting of the Dogwood Chapter of FMCA was called to order at 10:10 a.m. at Fort Monroe,  Hampton VA by President Mann Duff on April 16, 2011.  Mann noted that there was a quorum present but that this would be an abbreviated business meeting to focus on membership and rallies.

Mann thanked the hosts for the weekend: Jim and Susan Buelow, Donald and Carol Warthan and Steve and Sue Sohles.

Mann noted that our membership has declined and currently we have 41 paid members.  This membership decline hit FMCA and other chapters a few years eariler and is just now catching up with Dogwood.  There are number of reasons for the decline.  Folks are getting older and selling their motor homes.  Others are relocating or spending more time in warmer climates.   The position of VP of membership is open following the resignation of Bill Ferebee.  There was some discussion on retaining current members and recruiting new members.  Donna Gruel suggested a membership challenge.  Carol Warthan stated that she was wiilling to take on the position of VP of Membership if someone else took on the position of treasurer.  Mann nominated Carolyn Duff for the position.  There was some discussion that Carolyn was already maintaining the membership list, so this was a good combination of responsibilities.  There was a motion to accept Carol’s resignation as treasurer and to elect Carol Warthan as Vice President of Membership and Carolyn Duff as Treasurer.  The motion was seconded and approved.  Carol stated that she would like to have a membership challenge and offer a prize the member bringing in the most new members.

The next item of discussion was rallies.

Mann is organizing an informal rally at VIR May 13-15 for the Rolex races.  He contacted VIR and received a promo code that will give you a $20 discount on a 3 day race ticket.  Camping for the weekend is $50.

Dogwood will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in June.  The Duffs will host a rally to celebrate our anniversary at Rockahock the weekend of June 24 - 26.  Fred and Maxine Luxton volunteered to co-host.

The Dykes and Schoolars are planning a rally in September to include a trip to Tangier Island.

There was discussion on the location of Christmas rally.  Members agreed to move the location back to American Heritage in Williamsburg for 2011 and to look for other potential locations for 2012.  We still need hosts for this rally.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Carolyn Duff, Acting Secretary
