Spiral Sundress:

Materials:

(I used the same size needles and yarn that I used for my doll)

• Needles: Size US3/3.25mm
• Yarn: Less than one skein of Red Heart Soft, white (Worsted Weight)
• Tapestry needle.
• Scissors.
• 00/3.50mm crochet hook (optional)

This pattern is worked flat from the top down, then sewn up the back using a mattress stitch.

Dress:

Cast On 24 stitches.

Rows 1-6: SS for 6 rows, starting with a knit row and ending with a purl.

Row 7: (only if you want a ribbon, if not simply knit this row). K1, {K2tog, YO} 11 times, K1.

Row 8: Purl.

Row 9: K6, P1, K4, Kf&b, K5, P1, K4, Kf&B, K1 [26 sts].

Row 10: P1 {P5, K1} four times, P1.

Row 11: K2, P1, {K5, P1} three times, K5.

Row 12: P4, {P5, K1} three times, P3.

Row 13: K3, Kf&b, {K5, Kf&b} three times, K4, [30 sts].

Row 14: P3, K1, {P6, K1} three times, P5.

Row 15: {K6, P1} four times, K2.

Row 16: P1, K1, {P6, K1} three times, P7.

Row 17: K1 {K6, Kf&b} four times, K1 [34 sts].

Row 18: P1, {P7, K1} four times, P1.

Row 19: K2, P1, {K7, P1} three times, K7.

Row 20: P6, K1, {P7, K1} three times, P3.

Row 21: K3, Kf&b, {K7, Kf&b}, K6 [38 sts].

Row 22: P5, K1, {P8, K1} three times, P5.

Row 23: K6, P1, {K8, P1} three times, K4.

Row 24: P3, K1, {P8, K1} three times, P7.

Row 25: K7, K1f&b, {K8, K1f&b} three times, K3 [42 sts].

Rows 26-27: Garter stitch for 2 rows, knitting.

Cast off Knitwise.

Mattress stitch the back of the dress.  If you want you can stitch up to the waist of the dress and add a snap or button to the top of the dress.  String a thin ribbon (or contrasting yarn) through the holes in the dress, tie it in a bow in the back, and add some Fray Check to the ends of the ribbon to avoid fraying.

Using a 00/3.50mm crochet hook, make a chain 9 ch long for each side of the dress to make straps (you could also make an i-cord).
