Our goal is for our skiers to get a start on the process of learning good ski technique, have fun with the sport through games and free ski time, while learning technique from CMS coaches, high school coaches and high school skiers.  CMS skiers who want to venture into racing, can race in some age level races, as well as coming to a high school race when they feel ready.

The CMS Nordic Ski team will meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The first practice will be Monday, Dec 1, 2014.  Meet in the Media Center, we will not ski on the first day.  We’ll be checking out equipment.

Practice days (M, T, TH) we will ski at CMS.  Practice starts at 2:30 and ends around 3:45.  There is an activity bus to bring kids home at 4pm.  You cannot bring skis on the school bus so if you want to bring them home to ski or have your own, you will need to arrange for other transportation.

Skiers who have their own equipment can bring their own, all others will be checking out a pair of classic boots, skis and boots.  The fee is $80 plus the purchase of a required ski bag to protect the school’s equipment.  The bag will be theirs after the season is over.

Due to higher demand in the past years that equipment we have, we have decided to install a $20 rental fee for the equipment.  This fee will cover the repair/replacement of current equipment and the purchase of additional equipment.  Please include this with your $80 registration IF you are using CMS equipment.

We have a limited supply of skis/boots/poles.  We are reserving them on a first register first serve.  Go to the Nordic Ski website (info below) and click on Forms.  There you will see this info letter, the CMS registration form and an online form to fill out with lots of questions.  First come is determined by who 1) filled out the online form and 2) turned in their registration forms with Physical on file.  Depending on how many kids register, we may have to turn some away as equipment is limited.

We will have a few race opportunities.  Dates and times are TBD.

Any questions about the team contact Coaches Andy Malone amalone@edenpr.org, Karen Nelson knelson@edenpr.org or Connie Ewing, Student Activities Director cewing@edenpr.org 975-7400

Before the first day of practice, please fill out the pre-season form.  This will tell us information on your Nordic experience, whether you’ll be checking out skis, and if so, which size boots, skis and poles to get you.

This will be available on Monday, Nov 17th!!
