HISTORY OF FUN FLY COMPETITIONS
Fun Fly started in 1990, with various clubs throughout South Africa flying three postal rounds in March, May and July.
At each round pilots fly six different events, which are kept secret until each event envelope is opened prior to flying that event.
Each Club hosting a round needs an organiser and two judges with stop watches, a tape measure and sometimes other equipment like limbo poles etc. Entry fee is R20 per pilot per round.
All the scores are sent to a national c0-ordinator. The pilot’s best two rounds are added together and now the top twelve Open Class and top eight Sportsman Class are invited to the National event in Welkom, which is called “The Fun Fly Masters”.
