Paryshan Maha Parva 2012
Jain Study Center of North Carolina will observer Paryushan from Sep 8th – Sep 15th. Please note that these are different from traditional Paryushan dates [Sep 12th – Sep 19th]. Every year, JSCNC organizes a number of activities, thanks to volunteers, so consider taking advantage of as many activities as possible. Also, during this maha parva, we would like to send our good wishes to all those who are planning to do Tapasya. Do bring to our attention any tapasya by sending a quick email to Anand Shah (firstname.lastname@example.org). All Tapasvis will be recognized in the next newsletter.
On this auspicious occasion of Paryushan, consider donating generously towards Jiv Daya, Scholar Fund, Paathshala / children's activities or the General Fund. All contributions to JSCNC are tax-deductible. Make your check payable to "Jain Study Center of North Carolina" or simply "JSCNC", and either hand them to any Committee Member, or mail them to the Treasurer at: Pratyush Mehta, 207 Forsyth Drive, Chapel Hill, 27517. Phone#: (919) 967-6270.
Paryushan 2012 Planner
In addition to these activities, following daily events during the traditional Paryushan week are scheduled as follows:
Revised guidelines for contributions/donations
The Executive committee adopted a unanimous resolution on Jul 15, 2012. The resolution institutes a cap of $5,000/year with no more than $1,000/year from any one contributor on donations/fund raising activities which are member initiated and not center initiated. The organization/project may be here in USA or abroad. The decision to come up with the donation cap was purely to avoid the extra scrutiny by taxing authorities here in United States and abroad where funds are being sent by this center.

JSCNC Pathshala serves our young kids to instill spiritual development, self-awareness and promote Jain identity in individuals, based on the principles of Jainism. The teachers pay special attention to the needs of young and older groups and have structured curriculum as such.
The Paathshala classes take place every first Sunday of the month from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Hindu Temple Cultural Hall AND on 3rd Sundays during the monthly meeting. If you plan to attend and/or need more information, please call Mrs. Rita Lodaya or Mrs. Sejal Shah. Paathshala e-mail address is JSCNCpathshala@yahoo.com.
I wanted to remind everyone that children's safety is our utmost concern. Our pathshala attendance continues to grow. All pathshala classes are held on safe premises of Hindu Center, however there is considerable traffic in the parking lot. To help pathshala teachers maintain order and keep everyone safe, we are asking all the parents to sign in and sign out their kids - irrespective of the age of their child - during the 1st Sunday pathshala. We request very basic information (Who, When and emergeny contact). We will use this process for all future youth activities. The goal of this process is to balance convenience and children’s safety.
Please continue to follow this process. It is important to cooperate with the teachers for the safety of your children.
