Children will identify and describe different objects.

Children will tell how objects are alike and different.

- Display pictures of objects on smartboard.  Have children describe them by only looking at them.

-  Display objects on tables.  Have children touch the same objects and describe their findings by touching.

-  Have children describe how the objects are alike and different.

-  Extend the activity: Do the same activity again using the magnifying lens.  Explain how the objects are different after using the magnifying lens.

-  What can you learn about an object when you look at it and touch it?

-  Can you describe other objects that are soft to the touch.

-  Which parts of your body do you use when you look and listen?

Children will identify the five senses.

- Summarize what they know about each sense by completing a sentence. Ex:  I use my eyes to ____.

- Show and Tell: Observe if children describe their pictures in complete sentences.

-Introduce and pantomime each vocabulary word:  hear, taste, touch, smell, see.

- Use pictures clues to answer questions using the appropriate “sense” word.

- Draw a picture of something they would like to taste or smell.  

-  Show and Tell: Have volunteers share their pitures with the class.
