Introducing “Laurel’s Army Night with the Astros”
Throw on your Laurel’s Army shirt and please join us at Minute Maid Park on Saturday night September 18th for a night of baseball and fun to help us raise some money for the Texas Children’s Cancer Center. The Astros are taking on the Cincinnati Reds that night and first pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm.
We have a block of seats reserved out in right field and in working with the Astros we have arranged it to where $4 from every ticket we sell that night will be donated directly to the Cancer Center. The face-value on the tickets is $20, but we are going to get them for a discounted price of $16/each. It is out of that $16 that the Astros are going to donate $4 to the Cancer Center.
We are also going to have a “pledge drive” in conjunction with this baseball game. This will allow for people that can’t attend the game to be able to help or to allow those that wish to help out incrementally to do so as well.
We will tie the “pledge drive” directly to the number of total tickets we sell in our block of seats and we are going to ask people to pick an amount that they would like to donate to the Cancer Center on a per-ticket-sold basis.
Whether it is a penny, a dime, a quarter, a dollar or five dollars per ticket, we want to use this event as our major fundraiser for the year.
For example, if you pledge $1 per ticket and we sell 300 tickets - your total pledge to the cancer center will be $300.
After we have our final seat count, we will leave it up to each person or family to send their donations directly to the Cancer Center in Laurel’s name so that you can deduct the amount on your 2010 tax return, and we’ll provide the information to make sure your donation gets to the right place.
We have two very lofty goals for the evening that we will need your full support in order to help us achieve them.
1.) We want to sell 300 tickets in our block of seats.
2.) We want to get pledges that add up to $100 per ticket that we sell.
If we are able to achieve both of these goals we will raise in excess of $30,000 for the Cancer Center!!!!!
We cannot stress to you enough how amazing the staff at the Cancer Center has been to our family this year and we want to use this event to help show our appreciation for them making our journey this year as smooth as could be.
We also want to use this night as a chance for us to say “thank you” to all of you who have been an amazing support network for us this year.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the ballpark that evening and helping us support the team of people at Texas Children’s who are attempting to do everything they can to battle pediatric cancer.
So that we can keep track of our goals, please email your pledge amount to email@example.com.
We will keep you posted on where we stand with every update between now and September 18th.
How to purchase tickets:
There is a quick registration with Astros.com, but it should take less than 2 minutes.
As an added bonus, Texas country music artist Robert Earl Keen will be performing a free concert at Minute Maid Park that evening after the game has concluded.
Thanks again for your support and we look forward to seeing you all soon!!!!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
With Much Love,
Laurel, Steven, Melissa and Grant
