Matt Bishop won the toss and put in Amaranth looking for early wickets. Sekhar and Gunalun started brightly and soon began to pick up wickets with only 2 of the top 5 batsmen making it into double figures. The excellent run out (direct hit, 1 stump to aim at) of G.Lewis for nought by Hassan Mustaq compounded Amaranths poor start with 2 op the top 3 batsmen recording ducks.
Chris Allen and John Barber the continued to take wickets at regular intervals as Amaranth limped to 116 all out, with the help of 39 extras, over double the runs of any batsman in the innings (J. Hatton (16)). East Keswicks bowlers have every reason to be pleased with their performance. Sekhar (3-18 off 8 overs) and Gunalun (1-26) spearheaded the attack and received good support from John Barber (2-18) and the erratic Chris Allen (3-23).
However East Keswick failed with the bat with a highest individual total of 16. Many players made good starts but wickets fell at regular intervals leaving East Keswick in a difficult situation with was compounded with 2 wicket falling in 3 balls. East Keswick slumped to 99 all out. Amaranth conceded only 8 extras which in a game which was won by only 17 runs proved to be a huge factor in determining the victor.
