Thematic circle: Busy  autumn

The subject : Potato-lifting

Aims:

• learning different  types of  works performed in the  fields,

• developing the ability of  expressing ones opinion on the  given subject,

• forming  the ability of recognizing root crops,

• comprehension  of such notions as: potato-lifting, root crops, fodder plants,

• acquaintance with various possibilities of using these plants  on the  pattern of the potato,   the beet

Methods: observation, a multimedia display, the talk,  practical activities, work with the text

Forms: collective and individual teaching

Didactic means : interactive board, multibook,  syllabic confusion, crossword, natural specimens of root crops (potato, beet), magnifying glass

Predicted  didactic and educational effects:

Pupil:

-  adds and  subtracts numbers,

-  arranges text tasks to the illustration,

-  listens carefully to the text read by the teacher,  tells about the  potato-lifting and    answers the questions,

- arranges  a dialogue between  the king and the gardener  on the basis of the text

- recognizes cultivated plants on the fields,  names their parts,

- knows, what sort of  benefits a man has  due to the cultivation of chosen plants,

- knows, what types of works farmers perform in different seasons,

- supplements and copies sentences about the autumn works in the fields,

- writes the names of plants, applying nouns in the singular and plural correctly,

- performs bends, deep knee bends and throws at the target efficiently.

Course of classes

1. Calculating within 100 range.

2. Reminding  information about  cultivated fields.   Narrating about the farmer’s work.

Multimedia presentation.

3.  Listening to the story by R. Witka "Potatoes, royal delicacies".

4. Writing the answers to the text questions.

5. Exchanging  the impersonal form of the verb into the personal form. Copying sentences  into  the notebooks.

6. Games involving total physical movement -  Gathering potatoes.

7. Introduction of the  "root crops" notion. The structure and recognition of the root crops.

Treating of  plant origin products and explaining the way of exploiting them.

8. Arranging  calculations to the illustration. Solving text  tasks  involving  weighing goods.

9. Arranging  a dialogue  between the king  and the gardener. Enacting scenes in pairs.

10.  Potatoes menu.  Learning recipes and health advantages of different   potato courses .
