Welcome to Grade 9 Social Studies. My name is Mr. Kuniss. I hope you enjoyed your summer vacation and now prepared to get back to school. Social Studies 9 will continue to develop the skills and concepts introduced to you in Grade 8.

HISTORY: 1500 - 1850
HISTORY OF CANADA FROM FIRST NATIONS TO EUROPEAN CULTURES
- Analyse the relationship between Aboriginal people and Europeans and explain the role of each in the development of Canada
- Early Exploration of North America
- Describe daily life in Aboriginal communities, New France and British North America
- Analyze reasons for initial exploration and settlement North America (Fur Trade)
- Analyze effects of Colonialism on trade and conflict
- Assess the impact of the Fur Trade on exploration and settlement
- English Colonization to 1791
REVOLUTION
- Revolution defined (Stages of a revolution)
- Analyze the contributions of the French, English, and American Revolutions in the development of Democratic concepts
INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
- Identify factors that influence growth and development of Industry
- Evaluated the effects of the Industrial Revolution on society and the changing nature of work
- Modern Industrialization.
