Pork Meatballs

I was introduced to these in Finland and have played around with the original recipe to get something quite simple.  There are loads of meatball recipes which allow you to add lots of different flavours to them.  My original recipe included a sachet of onion soup for flavouring, but I can’t get the same flavour I remember from my Finnish meatballs so I dropped it.  Use this recipe as a base to add to.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180oC.
  2. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
  3. Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix with a spoon or your hands.
  4. Form the pork mixture into small balls.  It should make about 20 depending on the size of the ball.
  5. Place on the lined baking tray.
  6. Bake in a hot oven for approx 45 min.
  7. Serve hot with mashed potato, mashed carrot and swede and gravy or a homemade tomato sauce.

Tips

This recipe works for about 4 people providing there are lots of vegetables.  If you have hungry meateaters to serve double it and you may even have leftovers for lunch the next day.
