                        September 11, 2001 Paper

September 11, 2001 at 8:46 in the morning American Airline Flight 11  hit the World Trade Center in New York City. Nobody knew what was going on or what happened, maybe it was an accident. Then at 9:03 in the morning the second plane Flight 175 flew into the south tower of the World Trade Center. After that it became aware to us that this is a terrorist attack. The third plane American Airlines Flight 77 was going to the pentagon, and it hit. Then at 10:05 in the morning the South Tower collapses and sends a huge amount of dust into the streets of New York City. At 10:10 in the morning a portion of the pentagon collapses, not all of it collapsed though only a portion. Then at 10:28 in the morning the North Tower collapses sending another huge amount of debris and smoke into the streets of New York City. At 10:48 in the morning police confirm that there was a fourth plane crash in a field in Pennsylvania. The reason that the plane crashed in a field is because the passengers on Flight 93 heard about the terrorist attacks and decided to stop it. They were very heroic and called their loved ones to tell them they were going to take the plane over and crash it into a field. They stopped the plane from hitting our Nation’s Capital. They saved many people, they also saved from many people from our government to die and if they died then our government would be a huge mess, they are hero's for putting themselves in danger for others. All the planes that were hijacked came out of a Los Angeles airport. That airport was evacuated immediately after hearing about the attacks. Then at 1:27 in the afternoon a state of emergency is declared by the city of Washington. At 7:45 p.m. the police officers of New York City report that at least seventy-eight officers are missing, they also say that at least half of the four hundred firefighters that were on the scene were killed. At 8:30 p.m. President Bush has a press conference saying that “thousands of  lives were ended  by evil”. Many questions were asked that day like, who were these people hijacking the plan? Why are they doing this? What is going to happen to us? These were all questions going through our heads. The people hijacking the plan were terrorist with the name Al Qaeda. They are a militant Islamic group founded between 1988 and 1989 by bin Laden, they are considered a terrorist organization. Why it happened is the question everyone asks. Some say because they didn't like our political system and our idea of many different religions, the terrorists call us infidel's. What the terrorists do is suicide attacks, bombing, kidnapping,  assassination, and more. They believe that it is wrong for the United States to let people believe in what they want to believe in. They also don’t like our government. The picture that is posted is the second plane flight 175 going into the south Twin Tower. The second picture is the picture of the pentagon. The third picture is a picture of what it looked like when the Twin Towers collapsed and all the smoke and debris filled the streets. This was a terrible day and I thank all of our hero’s for going and saving people from those towers. This was a day no body will ever forget, I know I won’t.

When the September 11 attacks happened I was only five so I interviewed my dad to get more educated about all of this. He said, “The first time I heard about 9/11 I was driving home on 95. They were reporting it on the radio, but I decided I wanted to watch it on TV. I pulled into the nearest hotel and it was full of people watching TV. I decided to go to the exercise room to try and watch the TV in there. That room was even more full than the lobby. I had to watch the TV from far away. Later on after watching what was happening and figuring out it was a terrorist attack I drove home, and heard about the pentagon being hit. I was very angry, upset, scared and confused. I didn’t understand why someone would want to do that to our country, and I didn’t know if there was going to be more attacks. I wanted to know who were the terrorist. I came home early and wanted to get my kids. The government was shut down too. After 9/11 happened it seemed like the country came together and became more patriotic. That day is a day the whole country will never forget.” Those were my dads words. Even though I was young when 9/11 happened I still remember it. I was in kindergarten and they would not let us outside for recess. My mom came that day to pick us up early from school, she also got other kids too. I also remember going home and seeing my mom watch TV and just see fire on a building, then my mom told me to go downstairs and play or do something. Now that I understand the attacks more I decided to watch the video on 9/11 and was amazed. I can not believe someone would just crash a plane into the World Trade Center and kill innocent people. It was not fair to the families and the people who died. That was a terrible thing and I just can’t believe someone could do that. It was wrong for them to do what they did.

The affects of 9/11 were emotional, physical, and mental. It was a terrible day, but there was also an economic affect. When the plane took down the building millions of dollars were gone. It took millions of dollars to build those buildings. Also, all the papers and important documents were ruined from the fire. After 9/11 nobody wanted to get on a plane so there wasn’t any money coming in for the airline business. In 2001 before the attacks, people that went on a plane was about seven million, but after 9/11 it went down to about three million people getting on a plane. That means no one was buying plane tickets so there wasn’t any money coming in for the airline business. There are many affects about the 9/11 terrorist attacks and it affected us all. We will never forget.
