Present: Doug Milhous, Tom and Sue Morehouse, Doris Bond, Ed Marek, Joy O’Connell.
Review and Approval of Minutes: Tom provided printed copies the February business meeting minutes.
Treasurer’s Report: Doris reported we have a total of $2,413.49 in our account. She has paid rent to the UMC for the next six months.
Review of Mail: Tom will complete a form for the P.O. box. He passed out copies of a play script by Chris Moore-Backman of the Chico Friends about conducting a business meeting.
Ministry & Oversight:
- Dinner Among Friends will be at the Morehouse’s Friday 3/18 6:00pm. Bring side dishes to go with BBQ pork sandwiches. Discussion will be about the State of the Meeting.
- There was a discussion about if we would take part in the Inviting the Sacred program on 4/3 at St. Joseph’s Church. It was decided that Friends would not make a presentation, however you are invited to attend at 7:30pm.
- M & O has selected The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo. Friends are invited to present their favorite selection and why it inspired them at the May Dinner Among Friends 5/20. Call Doris if you would like to buy a copy of the book. She will be ordering them soon.
Peace and Social Order: Doris announced a benefit for the Unitarian Universalists. It will be a concert on 4/30 at 7:00 pm Pilgrim Church by Gentle Thunder (www.GentleThunder.com) music with Native American flute & hammered dulcimer. Tickets are $15/$10 for seniors.
Also on 4/30 from 11:30-2:00pm will be the Vaisakhi Festival at the Sikh Center in Anderson.
Interfaith Report: Doris announced to the interfaith group that the Redding Friends are an affirming church for LGBTQ.
Old Business:
- Kathleen is making some changes to the Information package for visitors. She will have this for us at next month’s Meeting for Business.
- Susie will talk with Megan about re-scheduling a day to volunteer at Turtle Bay Park Garden.
- Whole Earth Day plans are progressing. The seed planning committee has met. Doris will request last year’s booth location (or similar) and pay the registration fee. She will also check with the ROP kitchen at Shasta County Office of Ed. to see if they will make cookie dough for us to bake in solar ovens & get the required permit to bake these. The Morehouses will get sticky tags for people to wear their goals, poster board & paper for people to post goals. Ed & Kathleen discussed their efforts with making solar ovens. More volunteers are needed to make solar ovens that can be given away along with plans for construction. More planning can be done at April Dinner Among Friends.
- New Quaker cell phone number is 262-0633. The Morehouse’s will check for messages. Doris has cancelled the old land line, which will save Meeting about $350/year. Tom has posted the new number on our blog spot. Susie will enter it into the on-line yellow pages. Doug will update Quarterly & Yearly Meetings.
- Friends are encouraged to meet other area Quakers at the Chico Cluster Meeting, April 2. Call Doug 275-3513 to arrange a car pool to this event.

New Business:
- Stand for Peace (in memory of the start of war) will be 3/27th at noon on the corner of Dana & Churn Creek.
- Joy announced that there will be a play about prison reform on May 26th at the Methodist Church. Hospitality is needed. 15 men need a place to sleep. Doris suggested that the Quakers provide dinner before the play for the presenters. Joy will suggest this at her next meeting.

- March 18 Friday at 6:00 pm Dinner Among Friends & State of the Meeting Discussion
- March 19 ‘The Singing Revolution’ movie at Methodist Church at 7:00pm (Genocide No More)
- March 27 - 11:00 am Meeting for Worship - Kathleen will bring food. Doris will take care of any children who might attend & unlock the room.
- March 13 - 9:30 am Meeting for Business; 11:00 am Meeting for Worship - Tom will bring food take care of children as needed.
News of Friends:
- Joy won a large flat screen TV
- Nicole will be moving to a group home where she already has friends on 3/24th
