2012 CCH Slaughter League

is a 5x5 Head-to-Head League.  Your team will square off in a weekly match-up against another manager's team to see who can compile the best stats across a number of different categories.

A new weekly match-up begins every Monday and will consist of a set number of games based on your league's statistical categories. Each stat category counts as one game, with the win going to the team that finishes the week with the highest total in that category (the cumulative total after each Sunday's games).

So, if in a given week, your team hits more home runs than your opponent's, you would be credited with a victory. However, if your opponent's team ended the week with more saves than your team, you would be charged with a loss. If the two teams end up tied in a given category, each will receive credit for a tied game.

This weekly win-loss total will be added to a cumulative season record, which will be used to determine standings and playoff seadings. These standings will be based on your team's overall winning percentage, which is calculated by taking your win total and adding 1/2 of your tie total and dividing the sum by the total number of games your team has played.

The goal of H2H is to have your team compile a better win-loss record than all of the other squads in your league. Each week, you'll square off against another team in your league -- set a lineup based on league requirements and aim to have your players compile the best stats in each of your stat categories. Your stats are tallied on a weekly basis, with each stat category either counting as a game The team with the best record at the end of the year wins the regular season championship. Teams then participate in Playoffs to determine the overall league champion (see below):

The playoffs do not include any real-life baseball playoff contests.

Keep in mind that players on teams that do not make the fantasy playoffs or are eliminated from the fantasy playoffs are not released back to the Available Players pool.

To support the ideas of fair play and sportsmanship, I encourage all managers to retain their players even after they have been eliminated from championship contention.

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more players in a Head-to-Head League finish tied in the standings (based on a Games Behind calculation), the following system will be used to break the tie and determine playoff seadings:

  1. Overall winning percentage.
  2. Highest winning percentage in Week 22.
  3. Highest winning percentage in Week 21.
  4. Highest winning percentage in Week 20.
  5. Highest winning percentage in Week 19.
  6. Highest winning percentage in Week 18.
  7. Highest winning percentage in Week 17.
  8. Highest winning percentage in Week 16.
  9. Highest winning percentage in Week 15.
  10. Highest winning percentage in Week 14.
  11. Highest winning percentage in Week 13.
  12. Highest winning percentage in Week 12.
  13. Highest winning percentage in Week 11.
  14. Highest winning percentage in Week 10.
  15. Highest winning percentage in Week 9.
  16. Highest winning percentage in Week 8.
  17. Highest winning percentage in Week 7.
  18. Highest winning percentage in Week 6.
  19. Highest winning percentage in Week 5.

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock will be broken using the following system:

1.          Lowest team ERA.

2.          Highest team AVG.

3.          Lowest team WHIP.

4.          Most team HR.

5.          Most team wins.

6.          Most team RBI.

7.          Most team saves.

8.          Most team runs.

9.          Most team SO.

10.  Most team SB.

11.  Random "coin flip."

Notes:

  1. The first category above that is not tied will settle the tiebreaker. So, tiebreaker No. 2, team AVG., will be used only if team ERA is tied.

Weekly transactions

All transactions made during the week will be reflected in your lineup on the Monday of the following week.

To have all lineup changes occur on Monday, you will need to make all transactions by 11:59:59 p.m. PT each Sunday.

Trades

A trade consists of one manager exchanging a player or players with another manager in the same league.

Trades will be made through your team page which will be listed on Yahoo.com.

Please be sure to keep tabs on the trades that you have offered to other managers. So long as a trade is in the offered state, it can still be accepted. Therefore, there is a possibility that a trade is accepted after a player is injured, demoted, etc.

If the offer is accepted, the entire league will be notified and managers/commissioners can review the deal.  In our league, the commissioner can veto a trade if it is unfair. If a trade is accepted, the commissioner will wait 2 days so managers can air any grievances they have against the trade.

Once the trade has been accepted and the waiting period has finished, the trade will be processed (this can take up to 24 hours) and its results reflected on each team's roster and shown in the transaction log.

In order for a trade to be valid, all players involved must still be on the same team they were when the deal was accepted. If they are not, the trade will automatically be rejected. In order to prevent players involved in pending trades from being dropped or waived, managers will not be allowed to make any such transactions involving any players involved a trade once it has been accepted.

At no time will any manager be allowed to have more than five pending trades per league.

Free Agents

All unowned players who have cleared waivers are free agents and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can pick up or drop by clicking on the Pick Up Player or Drop Player links located near the top of your Team Page (this will all be available after registration, which will take place in February). All claimed players will immediately be added to your bench for the following day's games. It is then up to you to move them to starting positions.

You can drop players without replacing them, but you can only pick up players without dropping anyone if you have less than the maximum number of players on your roster. You will never be allowed to exceed your league's roster limit.

Waivers

Before the start of the season, all undrafted players will be placed on waivers with those left unclaimed then being treated as free agents. You can find out the length of the waiver period for your league by clicking on the League Settings link (after registration) from your league home page.

Fair Play

1.          All league-related transactions will be executed with the intent of improving the owner's team and/or its standing within the league.

2.          No owner may drop or dump players from their team for any reason other than improving their own team and/or its standing within the league.

3.          No owner will engage in any action that may be deemed to be collusive (two or more owners agreeing to make moves that benefit one team, but not the other).

4.          No owner will make any roster moves (including waiver claims, trade proposals, etc.) whose sole purpose is to hamper the play of other owners.

5.          No owner will take any action whose purpose is to, in any way, interfere with fair play in a league.
