 Touching (Part 1)

 God made us so we can touch and feel.

The children will complete activity p. 47

  1.  The teacher will discuss a wonderful gift that God has given us. It is the gift of tough.
  2. Discuss the many wonderful things we can touch.
  3. Ask the children to think of things that they can touch.
  4. Have the children touch their hair -- how does it feels?
  5. Have the children feel  their clothe.
  6. Have the children describe how they feel.
  7. Play the”Matching Pairs” Game.
  8. Place eight  squares of fabrics. There will be squares of four different fabrics.
  9. Sort the fabrics into two sets, putting one set into a paper bag.
  10. Have each child take a turn in choosing one fabric square and feel it carefully.
  11. Have the child reach into the bag and find the matching fabric.
  12. Distribute activity p. 47.
  13. Have the children point to the picture that show something that can not be touch.

 Halloween (Part 1)

On Halloween we dress up for make-believe.

 The children will complete activity p.23

  1.  The teacher will place Halloween objects in a suitcase.
  2.  open the suitcase and remove objects one at a time.
  3. Tell the children a bout the special day they will be celebrating in class: Halloween!
  4. The teacher will explain that we will dress up to make-believe and have fun.
  5. The teacher will explain that pumpkins made into jack-o-lanterns are a part of the Halloween fun.
  6. The teacher will open the top of a pumpkin to show the what is in the inside.
  7. The teacher will talk about seeds and the pulp of a pumpkin.
  8. Distribute activity p. 23.
  9. Help the children color the pumpkin and add eyes, mouth , and nose.

 Hallowing (Part 2)

We follow the safety rules on Hallowing.

 The children will complete activity p. 24.

  1.  The teacher will review pumpkins.
  2. Have the children describe pumpkins.
  3. Have the children help scoop out the inside of a pumpkin.
  4. Have the children touch and tell how does it feel.
  5. The teacher will carve eyes, nose, and mouth.
  6. The teacher will explain that jack-o’-lanterns are use to give off light.
  7. Teach the children the song Jack-o’-Lantern.
  8. Distribute activity p. 24.
  9. The teacher will call attention to how Tom and Lisa on the way to a Halloween party.
  10. Talk about Tom’s and Lisa’s costumes.
  11. Talk about safety rules we are all to follow.
  12. Invite the children to “walk” fingers along the path with Tom and Lisa, reading each sign along the way.
  13. Discuss why safety rules are important.
  14. Have the children name  and discuss safety rules.
