Port Townsend School of Woodworking

Towards a Handtool Woodworking Curriculum

This is a list of the skills and levels of achievement (projects completed) for a hand tool woodworking curriculum. This will be used to give students an idea of the skills they need to develop and, shortly, we’ll add a listing of our courses that will provide those skills. The recommended projects reinforce and combine the skills introduced at each level.

This is an outline will be expanded with more details in future versions. For this version we welcome comments and suggestions for additional groups of techniques or for the promotion of techniques to a higher or lower level (Basics, Intermediate, Advanced).

We feel that the Basic and Intermediate sections are fairly well formed and would encourage discussion / contribution on the Advanced Section.

There are two versions of this document on Google Docs- a reference read-only version and a collaborative version where you can actively contribute and comment. Please email Tim Lawson at tim@ptwoodschool.com to contribute to the document.
