ENE301: Multi use Hydroelectric Project El Tablón

Description: The main purpose of the project is to control the floods of the Sula Valley, generating hydroelectric power, the opportunity of better irrigation of the Naco Valley (because of the stronger flows in the river during the dry seasons), and a future potential to supply water to San Pedro Sula and municipalities. Although the generation of energy is only one of the components of the global concept of this project, it represents a very important source of direct and indirect income source for the investor

The Multiple Use Hydroelectric Project of El Tablón was conceived as two projects: the reservoir (built by the Government of Honduras) and the generation plant (built by a private investor).  The Reservoir is located on the Chamelecón River. This reservoir will be built RCC with a 76 meter high from the foundation, with a central outlet without control. The intake is located at the right margin and is connected to the generation plant, which is superficial and shelters two turbines, Francis Vertical axis type. The installed capacity will be 20 MW and a firm power of 4.14 MW. The annual average generation of the plant is 96.3 GWh: the reservoir area is 23 Km², reservoir capacity 460 million cubic meters from which 310 make up the useful reservoir, average annual flow 38 m³/s, design flow was 24.0 m³/s per unit.

The investment cost of the reservoir is 54.704 million dollars. In addition to the cost of cleaning the reservoir, relocating the CA-4 road and compensating the inhabitants of the reservoir area, estimated in 28.549 million dollars. The total investment cost of the hydroelectric plant attains 22.7 million dollars; including the transmission line, unforeseeable, supervision and administration, Interests During the Construction (IDC). It does not consider the right of the 10 km transmission line.

ENE302: Hydroelectric Project Jicatuyo

Description: The Jicatuyo Hydroelectric Project, in the Úlua River Basin, includes a rock fill dam and a concrete curtain of 101 meters high, an outlet at the left margin with 8 gates and a machine house with two Francis turbines. An operations level at an elevation of 220 m. is proposed to obtain an installed capacity of 210 MW and an annual average generation of 879.8 GWh, a reservoir area of 65 km² and a volume of 2,254 MMC at an elevation of 230 m. The Jicatuyo dam would be a reservoir with breakwater and concrete screen, since the superficial geology, available to date, has not allowed planning a compacted concrete reservoir as a more appropriate solution. This way the foundation depth has been established in accordance with the geological profile conducted for this study, with a conservative criteria, given the lack of an in-depth geotechnical research. The reservoir contemplates the necessary works for its operations, as the detouring of the river; the intake and drains with its control and overflow channel. Likewise, downstream the dam is the hydroelectric plant with its corresponding forced pipelines, support housing building and restitution channels.  In addition there will be two access roads to the reservoir and the plant and the development and environment adjustment works. The works above referred can be seen in the general plant and reservoir plant drawings. Also, the appraisal of the works is included in the budget section.

ENE303: Hydroelectric Project Los Llanitos

Description: The Hydroelectric Project Los Llanitos is located in the Ulua River Basin. The installed capacity of this project is 80 MW and it has an annual average generation of 370.4 GWh. With the mobilization of the site upstream (about 6 km) of the original site, the annual production of energy is reduced in 12%, however, the management of the reservoirs is facilitated. The reservoir area is 20.4 km², with a volume of 657.9 MMC.  Nonetheless, it is necessary to complete the field research.

To promote private development, especially because of the financial results of the Los Llanitos Project, the study recommends a cascade development considering the Jicatuyo Project is located downstream the Los Llanitos Reservoir. The Los Llanitos Reservoirs built from compacted concrete since the geological-geotechnical research determined the feasibility of this type of dam, defining its foundation from the geological profile of the site made for this specific purpose which resulted in determining that the dam will be supported by bedrock. The dam contemplates all the necessary works for its operation, including diverting the river; intakes and discharges with their respective control elements and spillways or overflow channels. Furthermore, downstream from the dam is the electricity center with its corresponding penstock, stock supply building and restitution channel.

Description: The project exemplifies an industrial installation, turn-key (equipment not included), with an output of 1 million pounds a week and all electromechanical installations in Green Valley Industrial Park.

 Green Valley Industrial Park is the largest industrial park in the region. It is strategically located in the industrial corridor of the Naco Valley in Santa Bárbara. This modern industrial development has brought together the textile sector and light assembly, becoming the flagship of the industrial development of Honduras.  It also has one of the most sophisticated and complete infrastructure in terms of logistics, energy, telecommunications and any other production factor required. So far about 2.5 million feet2 have been developed, Which are delivered turnkey with all specifications provided by the end customer, thus ensuring the satisfaction of both parties. The Park has been certified under the ISO 14001 seal.

TUR208: Mountain Spa Hotel in Santa Barbara

Description: The project is to operate a 30-room hotel located within the borders of the National Mountain Park of Santa Bárbara, which offers unique ecosystems in the country, given that it is a transition zone between the broad leaf forests and the coniferous ones.

Likewise, the Mountain Spa Hotel should be devoted to practices which help people preserving their good health and preventing diseases, as well as reducing stress. For this purpose the facilities will offer anti-stress massages, reflexotherapy, energetic massages, facials and other activities; in addition, the Mountain Spa Hotel will have dance therapy, music therapy and aroma therapy, to release stress. It will also provide services of nature interpretation, flora and fauna visits and development of path walks activities.
