Persuasive Speech Assignment

You have been researching a community issue that you will be writing a persuasive letter about to an appropriate audience. Before getting started on the letter you will first deliver a short 2-3 minute speech about the issue to our class.
A schedule of presentation dates will be created by the teacher. Be prepared to present on your assigned date.
Your speech should include:
- A clear explanation of the issue and your position on the issue
- A thesis that connects to your audience
- Supporting reasons and evidence for your position
- An acknowledgement of an opposing viewpoint and your counterargument
- A call to action for the audience
Your speech will also be evaluated on theses items:
- Strong voice
- Eye contact
- Appropriate body language
- Appropriate length (2-3 minutes, no more no less)
