The children will learn how scientist can find about objects.

Each child will describe an animals and will classify them.

  1. Explain what scientists do.
  2. Explain that like scientist, they will also use skills used by scientist.
  3. Explain that when they test something, they are using process skills. When they collect and record data, they are using the process skill. When they make conclusion and tell what they learned, they are using the process skills.
  4. Discuss the meaning of the following words: Observe, communicate, classify,estimate and measure, infer, predict, make and use models, make definitions,make hypotheses, collect and record data, interpret data, plan a fair test, investigate and experiment.
  5. Give examples of the meaning of the definition.
  6. Have the children answer questions to show their understanding of the definition words.

The children will name some of the tools and equipments/instruments that will be use in class during the year.

  1.  The teacher will discuss the following tools: Goggles, wind vane , hand lens, clock, scissors, measuring cup, ruler, balance, turning fork, thermometer, magnets.
  1. Model how to use the tools, equipment/instruments.
  2. Discuss the danger of not following the safety rules in a science experiments.
  3. Have the children answer questions.
