Mahaviry Jayanti 2011

This year’s Mahavir Jayanti celebration was a spectacular success. Our community hosted 350 people. We started off with Ashtprakari Puja mixed with Swapna Darshan. Fifty four children of various ages participated. The Puja was followed by Shanti Kalash, Mangal Divo and Aarti.

Copies of DVDs for the cultural program are being prepared. More details to come during the May meeting.

We are also in the process of editing the raw video (>4hrs) to a highlight format that can be posted on our website. If you would like to volunteer to edit the video, please send an email to Anand Shah (anand2.shah@gmail.com)

The cultural program was another huge success thanks to the meticulous planning of the program coordinators, hours of effort by choreographers and most importantly our energetic youth. Most of the young children were present since very early in the morning for the Puja and patiently waited for their turn to go up on the stage.

The Committee would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped directly or indirectly make Mahavir Jayanti 2011 a grand success! We are proud of the overwhelming support from the entire community.

4. Paathshala Corner

JSCNC Pathshala serves our young kids to instill spiritual development, self-awareness and promote Jain identity in individuals, based on the principles of Jainism. The teachers pay special attention to the needs of young and older groups and have structured curriculum as such.

The Paathshala classes take place every first Sunday of the month from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Hindu Temple Cultural Hall AND on 3rd Sundays during the monthly meeting. If you plan to attend and/or need more information, please call Mrs. Rita Lodaya or Mrs. Sejal Shah. Paathshala e-mail address is JSCNCpathshala@yahoo.com.

Early May is celebrated as Teacher Appreciation Week. Every year during this week, the children take time to show their appreciation to teachers. We should recognize that the Paathshala teachers provide an important service. Do take time to explain your children and take this opportunity and thank Paatshala Teachers too!

The committee would like to remind the parents of Paathshala kids to send in their contribution to Hindu Center of NC. This is a Hindu Center of NC requirement for all groups who use the facility. The contribution is $10 per month and you can either pay monthly or annually. Whether you have already done so or would be doing this in near future, please send an email to Mr. Pravin K. Shah and Mr. Harshad Shah letting them know.
