Tips for freetext event descriptions

What not to include

The form covers all essential data in separate fields, like times, date, location, contact details etc. These will display automatically and you don't need to duplicate them in your freetext description. Only information that doesn’t appear elsewhere is required.

What to include

The first paragraph of your description is the most important as this will be displayed with more prominence. Make sure you complement your event title and tell people right away enough to see if it is something that could be relevant to them. They are unlikely to read on unless you grab them from the start!

Using relevant keywords will help people search the events listing. Make sure you give people all the information they need to take things further - include information about what people can expect, access, booking arrangements or where to get more info, if this is different from the main contact for the event.

If you have several similar events, drafting your description before you start will mean you can just copy and paste it into each event form, even if you decide on a few adjustments along the way.
