Ladies and Gentlemen:
As promised during our zone training meeting earlier, please find below the information and link to register for the upcoming Behave Plus Webinar. The course will be conducted from 9am - 5pm Mountain Time on November 9, 2010. Prior to the course, the students that register will receive an email reminder to make sure that their computers have the Behave Plus software downloaded on their computers, as well as some suggested items to have present during the course. Along with those reminders, there will be a few helpful hints for participating in a Webinar, particularly for those of us that are new to the format. We intend to monitor course registrations as the time approaches in order to limit numbers if it appears that we may be exceeding a productive environment for the delivery method.
Please distribute to your mailing lists, or post the link to your websites as you see appropriate... We look forward to utilizing this format and hope to make it rewarding for the folks taking part....
Thanks... Bill

Description: This training course is designed to teach the fundamentals of using Behave Plus for fire behavior predictions. The course begins with exercises to teach the file structure of the program and basic navigation. The material includes instruction on using wind vectors, the fire characteristics chart, and the Contain Module. Students will learn how to report data in tables and in charts. The course is also designed to help the students understand the assumptions and limitations of the model and use that knowledge to make fire behavior predictions.
Target Group: Those students who are planning to attend S-490 and RX-341. This course will help prepare students for the prework and the courses themselves. The intended audience is also those interested in fire behavior modeling and students who work on prescribed fire burn plans and effects analysis for the fire discipline.
Prerequisites: Students must have BehavePlus Version 5.0.2 loaded prior to the start of the webinar on their computer. A copy of the software can be obtained at www.firemodels.org. . Students also need to have a 1/10 clear ruler. It is also recommended that students have an external “mouse” if using a laptop.
