Student: Forums Moodle ISU


Forums in Moodle ISU allow students to answer questions, reply to one another, and discuss specific topics. The News Forum is a unique forum for instructors to make announcements; students cannot reply in the News Forum.

This guide will help you to understand:

Locating Forums

  1. Log in to Moodle ISU and Click on your course name.
  2. Click on the forum name.


  1. There is also a block on the right or left side of your course named Search forums. If you already know the forum name, Type the name in the box and Click Go. The result will appear in a new page.

Participating in Forums

Participating in forums can be different as the teacher has full control over the information that is displayed.

  1. Click on the forum. Now Click on your desired forum topic. You’ll see the discussion and replies inside that topic.


  1. You can View, Add a new topic, or Reply to the discussion.  Once you have posted to the forum, you have 30 minutes to make changes to your submission.  To view a post Click on the name of the post.
  2. To add a new topic Click on Add a new discussion topic.


  1. Depending on the forum settings selected by your instructor, you may be able reply to a post by Clicking the small Reply button.


  1. You can edit or delete your own post within 30 minutes of posting. Some forums won’t allow you reply more than once or post a new topic before replying to another post.
  2. After all posting/editing, Click Post to forum.

News Forum

Located at the top of each course, the News forum contains any information or announcements that the instructor wants to share with the class.
