The meeting of the Dogwood Chapter FMCA was called to order by President Mann Duff at 10:00 a.m. at Misty Mountain Campground, Greenwood, Virginia on September 17, 2011.
Mann welcomed everyone. A quorum was present so a business meeting was held.
Secretary’s Report: A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the last meeting as published.
Treasurer’s Report: Carolyn Duff gave the treasurers report. (See Treasurer’s Report attached)
Communications: Carolyn Duff requested input for the newsletter articles and photos by October 1st.
Membership VP: Carol Warthan reported that an FMCA sent out an e-mail to prospective Dogwood members east of the Blue Ridge Mountains which resulted in 5 responses, 1 joined, 1 interested, 1 and 3 not interested. Donna and Carl Gruel have brought in 3 new members. Mann announced that there were still 2 more free FMCA memberships available. Volunteers are needed for the Chapter Fair at GEAR. In the past this has been a good venue for new members.
VP Rallies: Fairleigh Schoolar announced the upcoming rallies for November and December as follows:
November 4-6: VIR Mann has been able to negotiate a good rate for the race tickets. Let them know if you are coming. The cost for the weekend dry camping and parking is $50.00 and $20.00 per person for the race tickets. (More information to follow).
November 4-6: Urbanna Oyster Festival. Since space is limited it is important to let Berkley Alexander know if you plan to attend. (More information to follow).
December 2-4: Out Door World. Phone number for reservations is 757-566-3021. Be sure to let them know you are part of Dogwood FMCA. If your Thousand Trails membership includes Out Door World, you will need to make your reservations on the TT website. This campground also honors Passport America on certain days. Hosts are Gruels, Allens, Sohles, and Reeds.
Fairleigh asked that we all be ready to have ideas for rallies for next year’s schedule. So far tentative plans include Solomon’s Island hosted by Halls- May, 2012
Hatteras- Cummings in March 2012
Misty Mountain – December 2012
Other suggestions include a fall rally at Luray and Williamsgrove, PA near the time of GEAR which is to be held in York, PA
Mann discussed the Audit Committee findings which were identified and corrected. Other discussion included whether or not the Urbanna Rally was an official Dogwood rally because of limited space, and it was concluded to be an official rally.
Jim Buelow spoke of his flat tire episode on their trip to Montana. Thanks to a safety seminar he had attended he knew not to apply the brakes. Discussion ensued regarding safety issues involving tires and how to read how old they are.
At 11:10 a.m. a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
