CounterPULSE and OX/VivvyAnne ForeverMORE! Present as part of the Summer Special program:

WORK MORE!

1 theater, 5 drag queens, 10 artists, 4 simultaneous drag shows

OX

August 24th- August 26th

San Francisco, July 2012— Showcasing some of our city’s most talented and diverse performers, WORK MORE! rides the line between theater performance and nightlife experience. Performance artists, fine artists, lighting designers and dancers partner with local drag queens to create four intimate and over the top performance installations. Using lip-synch, dance, high drag, naked bodies, theory and good old fashion camp, the audience will be guided through the space, a virtual haunted house of glamour, for a distinctly San Francisco experience.

Drag has long been a mode of preserving queer histories, from chosen families to on stage story telling. Sharing these techniques and histories with other artists expands these traditions beyond club culture to a wider audience. Working across art disciplines and with diverse bodies, the performers will collaborate to write their own new language of queer history.

Featuring: Glamamore and Jerry Lee, Dean Disaster and Philip Huang, Martha T. Lipton and Margaret Menudo, DIAmanda Kallas and Jonathan Solo, Kolmel WithLove and Tessa Wills.

About the Artists:

Mica Sigourney/VivvyAnne ForeverMORE- As student of theater and performance for 14 years, Sigourney has specialized in physical theater, improvisation and site specific performance.  6 years ago he fled the proscenium stage and traditional venues and refocused his energies on go-go performance installations and the populace stages of the nightlife. 2 years ago he created drag persona VivvyAnne ForeverMORE! and since has performed on stages and festivals in San Francisco, L.A., New York, and London, and in the de Young, the New Museum (NYC) and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.  Sigourney is an Artist In Residence during CounterPULSE’s Winter 2011-2012 season with his show “Masterwork: the most important performance made by one of the most important artists and generation of our time Mica Sigourney”

OX- founded in 2008 by Mica Sigourney, explores the tension between formal representative construction and personal actualization through non-traditional physical theater, improvisation and site specific performance. OX self-produces large-cast live theater events, participates in large group shows and co-curates evening-length performances using traditional queer modalities of theatrics such as drag, nightlife entertainment and go-go performance as a point of departure.
