  Observe the life cycles of various living things.

 The children will put card of a chicken life cycle in the correct sequence.

  1.   Show the children pictures of babies.
  2. Lead the children in a discussion about how animals resemble their parent.
  3. Show cover of  “Moo Moo, Brown Cow.”
  4. Read aloud the book and track print.
  5. Stop and have the children point out the parent  animal and then count the number of young shown.
  6. Help the children recognize that the young resembles the parent.
  7. Review vocabulary words: adult, young, egg, born, grow.
  8. Initiate a discussion with the children about life cycles. Ask: Where does a chicken come from? What is inside a chicken’s egg?
  9. Display picture of the life cycle of a chicken.
