1. How to play?
Save roms in SD card or internal storage and launch Dsoid. You will see a black screen showing the stuff in your device. This is Dsoid built-in file explorer. Use the file explorer to navigate to your rom and select it to play. Use the touch button at the top of your screen to enable/disable on screen control buttons so you can use the touch screen.
2. Dsoid can't find my roms / where are the roms stored?
Make sure you installed version 1.9 or above. Dsoid plays .nds format roms and does automatic extraction if they are compressed .zip files. Just navigate to the .zip or .nds file from Dsoid built-in file explorer and select it to play. Note that .nds files load faster as zip files have to take time to extract.
If your rom file is in another format (e.g., .rar or .7z), you won’t be able to see it in Dsoid. In this case, you need to get a free zip utility from the play store and use it to extract a .nds file from your rom file.
3. Does Dsoid work on my device?
You can try Pokemon games (diamond, soul silver, heart gold, black, white, pearl), Mario Kart, new Super Mario Bros, Ace Attorney, the World Ends with You, and Final fantasy, etc. and see how Dsoid works. Based on user feedback, these games among others have decent graphics, sound, and speed on Dsoid. Of course you can also try other games.
4. Are roms for PC the same for Dsoid?
Yes.
5. Where should I put my roms?
Put them in SD card or internal storage. Try both ways if you have problems.
6. Where can I get roms or what website can I download roms?
I don’t know. Dsoid plays roms in .nds or .zip format. It doesn't Google or download roms.
7. Why does Dsoid not let me start up a game?
It is probably because your device, Dsoid and the game happen to be incompatible. Email me what game you are trying to play. Compatibility will gradually improve. Also try rebooting your device if you can’t start a game.
8. Dsoid pulls up a black screen that has all my info like my downloads music and stuff. How do I play games?
The black screen is the built-in file explorer. Just navigate to your game and select to play. See questions 1 and 2 above.
9. When I try to load a game, I only get a blank white screen with controls on it. Sometimes Dsoid just closes. Why?
Several possible reasons: 1. Dsoid is taking time to initialize, and you need to wait for the game to load. 2. If you still have white screen after several minutes, there is a compatibility issue. Please email me what games you are trying to play. 3. Your rom files aren’t legitimate copy and have copyright protection.
10. How come the touch screen doesn’t work?
There is a touch button at the top of your screen which enables/disables on screen control buttons. You need to touch it to disable on screen control buttons to use the touch screen.
11. Can I pause the game and create a save state?
Yes, you can. However, do not use save states as long term saves. Use in game saves instead. When load a save state, let your game initialize and start first and don’t load the save state too early.
