Directions for each stage
Stage 1. Leave the kenlis arms and head over motorway bridge and then turn right onto Sandholme lane do not turn of that road till you see a directional arrow.
Go the way the arrow shows you are then on Lodge lane follow this road keeping to the left until you come to a fork in the road taking the right fork which is Lydiate lane. At the end of the lane turn left after a sharp climb you will come to a left turn take the turn which is then Scotch lane. Follow this lane and do not turn of anywhere until you reach Crombleholm road turn right and that will take you up a steep climb to the top of the fell road. Once at the top take a sharp left and follow the one way system round the fell to the Quarry car park which is the finish.
Stage 2. Starting on Rigg lane descend down the the fell. Keeping left you will then be running on Blacksticks lane carry on that lane and you will go across a cross junction which is Houghclough lane after about 3/4of a mile you will come to a sharp right hand bend there you must veer left where there are markers with quiet lane on them go up there and it will bring you to Fish house lane. When on Fish house lane you will come to a fork in the road you need to take the left fork once you get to the bottom you will have a short sharp climb 20%/ which my car struggled on sorry for that at the top of the hill turn right and you will be on Kiln Brow Raike follow this till you reach a tea junction at the junction turn left and go through Chipping once you get through the village you will come to a sign for the wild boar park turn left there and follow that road and don’t turn off anywhere unless you see a directional arrow. After about 3 miles you will come to a kind of T junction turn right and keep going till you reach Burholme Bridge which is a fork junction take the left fork which is sign posted Dunsop Bridge. As you come up to Dunsop Bridge turn right and go into the village taking great care when going over bridge 150yards past bridge there is a car park on left hand side turn into car park and head for the gate ahead of you to finish.
Stage 3. Starting outside the petrol station head out of the village over the bridge past the tea rooms. Once you get to the top of the hill turn right sign posted Abbeystead follow that road please take great care going over the cattle grids and follow the arrow signs and do not turn of anywhere unless a sign or marshal tells you to as for this leg you keep on the same road until you reach your finish in Quernmore once you drop into the village go past the junction and the finish is in the left hand side lay by across from church.
Stage 4. Start is at the bus stop on Bay Horse lane. Follow Bay Horse lane up out of the village until you come to a junction which is sign posted Chipping turn left and follow the arrows and take instruction from marshals and they will lead you to Oakenclough road and you will climb up over the fell then drop down to Grizedale bridge car park on the right hand side which is the finish please take care as the surface is uneven and loose stone.
Stage 5. Start is at Grizedale Bridge car park and head over the fell and drop down to Okenclough Mill at that junction turn right onto Strickens lane. Once on this road after 2.5miles you will come to a fork in the road you need to go right to keep on Strickens lane keep on this road always keeping right and you will come to a large junction where you need to keep left onto Sandholme lane after half a mile turn left onto Bell lanne which turns into Sullom side lane. You will then again come to a fork in the road you need to take the left hand fork which will lead you back to the large junction this time turn right and go over the motorway bridge and the finish is just on your right at the Kenlis arms front door.
