Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 5 minutes Makes approximately 1 cup paint
½ cup cornstarch OR 1 cup flour
2 cups water
Dash salt
3 tablespoons sugar
Food coloring
Combine cornstarch (OR flour), water, salt and sugar in a medium sauce pan over medium-low heat. Cook cornstarch mixture for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and becomes gel like. Remove from heat.
Divide mixture into different bowls/storage containers. Add desired food coloring to each container and stir to combine. Add an additional water, as needed, until desired consistency is reached.
Let cool and paint away!
Note: ‘Paint’ can be stored at room temperature for a couple of days but for best results should be stored in refrigerator when not in use. Just bring to room temperature before using and add additional water if needed. Paints will only keep for 1-2 weeks and then be discarded.
