Beau is a gorgeous one year old male Husky mix with beautiful piercing blue eyes and a plush black and white coat. He is a friendly, energetic, affectionate, playful and cheerful guy. Beau would be a perfect companion for an active lifestyle. A fenced yard, or acreage in which to run, would suit him very well. Beau gets along well with other dogs.
Maddie is an affectionate, curious and outgoing 2 year old female tabby. She was part of a feral cat colony that was taken to the Mendocino County Care-A-Van to be spayed or neutered. While Maddie was recovering from the procedure, our wonderful volunteer Sandy noticed that she had a very sweet and friendly nature, not a typical feral cat at all. She was brought to the RCHS shelter with the hope of being lovingly adopted and having a much better life than if still out on the streets.
You will be smitten with Smitty and now is your chance to meet your new best friend. With his happy smile and big heart Smitty is quite the charmer. He is a young adult male Pit with a friendly, playful and laid back nature. This gentle giant loves to give head hugs and he adores pettings and people time. Basking in the sun and playing with his favorite toys (or sometimes even a rock) are pleasures he enjoys.
Blackberry has had a very difficult life. She was left outside and was badly neglected for several years. Once in our care, Blackberry received the grooming, care and love that she so needed and deserved. She is a sweet 10 year old female with a calm and quiet demeanor. Blackberry would love to join her human companion for a little TV watching, reading or an afternoon snooze. Her fur may be black, but Blackberry’s heart is pure gold!
Shasta is a beautiful 11 month old female Catahoula with a sweet and gentle nature. She enthusiastically romps around the yard tossing toys in the air or playing fetch with her human friends. Shasta is a smart and inquisitive girl who can be shy at first, but warms up quickly and likes to sneak kisses whenever a hand or cheek is near. She always enjoys a good round of petting and a little sweet talk. Shasta should be the only pet in the household and in a home with no small children.
Sweet Stella is an affectionate 1 year old female grey Manx kitten. She is a social, curious and playful little girl who loves being with people. Manx cats are a breed of domestic cat originating on the Isle of Man with a naturally occurring mutation that shortens the tail. Stella is a special needs cat; unfortunately, she was born with the Manx syndrome which makes her incontinent. Stella’s incredibly loving and outgoing nature overshadows any extra care she may need. This furry little purr ball is just waiting for that special someone to take her home.
Aurora is a 2-3 year old female tabby whose beautiful coat has bold black markings. She did not have a lot of human contact when young and so she is shy and can be wary. The shelter environment is difficult for shy cats, as those who are more outgoing tend to get most of the attention and find homes more quickly. While in foster care with her kittens and during her stay at the shelter, Aurora has grown more comfortable around people. Once secure in her own home and with love, time, patience and tasty treats Aurora will surely make a happy and loyal companion.
Mia is a young adult female Pit Bull Terrier with an affectionate and playful nature. She has basic obedience skills and wants very much to please. Mia loves playing tug-of-war, taking walks, getting head scratches and pettings or just hanging out with her people. She can be a bit sassy at times, so Mia should not be your very first dog and she should not be in a home with small children.
Tootsie (pictured) and Rio are 6 month old sisters. Tootsie is a beautiful Tabby with long and lush fur. Tootsie and Rio are shy, but enjoy pettings. They would be best in a quiet household.
Kyla is a gorgeous 2 ½ year old female purebred German Shepherd. She is energetic, smart, loyal and protective of those she loves. Kyla loves to play with her toys, bask in the sun or hangout on the sofa with her people. She would enjoy an active lifestyle and would do well with an experienced and confident dog owner. A fenced yard or acreage in which to run would be a bonus for Kyla. She should be the only pet in the household.
Tootsie and Rio (pictured) are 6 month old sisters. Rio’s black fur feels like you are touching a soft mink coat. Tootsie and Rio are shy, but enjoy pettings. They would be best in a quiet household.
Lucky is an affectionate elderly, yet spry, gentleman with a very loyal nature. His best friend was recently adopted, so Lucky is feeling a bit lonely. Lucky may be an intriguing mix of Labrador Retriever and Corgi. He gazes at you with the most adoring eyes and you can imagine him saying “Please love me and take me home with you”. He likes to toss his toys in the air, play ball, take walks, explore the world or just hang out with his human friends.
