Greetings:

While a "meeting" of Penns Wood Chapter (and NWC members) in our region is a challenge, I am hopeful that this alternative method of communication might provide an means to deliver information regarding events Woodie people might appreciate. (please note: it is unlikely that I will be able to make each event listed below, But, each sounded appealing!)

1. Northeast Rod and Custom Show. March 25, 26, 27 2011  Granted this event has already occurred.. but a recap is in order!

2. Hammondsport, NY ACBS event. July 15, 16 and 17, 2011

3. Flemington, NJ - July 23rd, 2011

4. Das Awkscht Fescht  August 5, 6, 7, 2011

5. Chesapeake City, MD.August 28, 2011

6. Bay Head Chapter ACBS. September 17, 2011 (Rain date September, 18 2011)

7. Fall Tour?

1.Northeast Rod and Custom Show. March 25, 26, 27 2011 Over the weekend of March 25 - 27 Richard Fernandes and I exhibited our Ford Wagons at the Northeast Rod and Custom Show held in OAKS, PA..

While I am not overly interested in "judging",  nor indoor shows in general, this event provided a new venue to showcase what the National Woodie Club is about.. The promoter  was able to successfully attract several high profile show cars to his inaugural show and I the show will continue next year.

I would LOVE to gather 3-8 woodies for a club display and it is my new goal to assemble and show my 1948 Oldsmobile Woodie to debut at or BEFORE? this event. Perhaps others would like to join me?

2. Hammondsport, NY ACBS event. July 15, 16 and 17, 2011

Last year fellow Woodie club member Jerry Ludwig (who is also a member of the Wine Country region of the ACBS) suggested that this event might provide a nice oppertunity to enjoy the finger lakes region of New York. Needless to say.. I am excited to visit Hammondsport and have already made my travel arrangements. In addition the wooden boat show, Hammondsport is home to the Glenn H Curtiss Museum..

3. Flemington, NJ - July 23rd, 2011

Bill Quick a NWC member from New Jersey has arranged for "Woodies" to be the feature vehicle for the Flemington, NJ cruise night on July 23, 2011.   More info call Jeff Yeagle at 610 209 3399

4. Das Awkscht Fescht  August 5, 6, 7, 2011 (Machungie)

Before we know it it will be time for Das Awkscht Fescht again.. many of you may have already received registration information.. club day is Sunday.. August 7, 2011 As usual we will be showing woodies together at Machungie. (registration is due mid june?)

5.Summertime in Chesapeake City, MD. Noon to 8pm on August 28, 2011

NWC lifetime member #1 Ron Francis (formerly of Ron Francis wiring fame and current civic leader in Chesapeake City, MD.) has invited members of the National Woodie Club to attend "Summertime in Chesapeake City” Antique car show.) Show entry is 10.00 per car, (which benefits the Lions Club Charities of Chesapeake City, MD) more info can be by calling Jeff at 610 209 3399

6. Bay Head Chapter ACBS. September 17, 2011 (Rain date September, 18 2011) Bay Head, NJ (Johnson Brothers Boat works)

Several members attended this show last year, we've been invited to show cars alongside wooden boats again and as previously there is NO cost for registration..

7.Fall Tour?  Last fall (several weeks following the Hershey fall meet.) I arranged a day trip and tour of the AACA museum at Hershey (with the goal of viewing the exhibit Ash and Maple Marvels)

Following our museum visit and lunch fellow NWC member Dick Beckley agreed to open his home to the group. Sadly the Woodie exhibit has departed from the AACA museum, but I am hopeful that the tradition will continue.. perhaps you know of a collection, museum or similar event in which members of the group might participate.. We're currently looking for fall tour ideas...
