  2. Recite the rhyme “One, Two, Buckle My Shoe” several times, having chime in it. 
  3. Distribute number cards to pair.
  4. Have the partners say the rhyme as they take turns putting down the correct number card for each rhyme line.
  5. Ask: What number is that? How many trucks are there? Is that the correct number for that follows?
  6. After pairs show the numbers through ten , have them start at 10 and point each card as they count backward from 10 to 0.
  7. Ask: Where do you start when we count backward from 10? What helped you learn to  count forwards to 10 and backwards?

  2. Have the small groups of children play a game using trucks and roadway they created on the floor.
  3. Explain to the children that we will be playing a mathematical game using addition and subtraction.  
  4. Review vocabulary words combine and separate.
