Assignment: RSS

1. Sign in to Google. Then Digg Reader, Click here 

2. Find and subscribe to 5 feeds (these should be feeds that you have not subscribed to before) from EACH of the following categories:

  1. News sources. This can be local, state, national, or federal news sites.
  2. Government OWNED sites (local, state or federal - agencies, courts, legislative, executive level, etc.). Most will end in .gov.
  3. Hobby or personal interest sites. School appropriate only.

Please note: You can only use one RSS feed per URL. An example would be you can only choose 1 RSS feed from CNN’s list.

You can do this by visiting your favorite sites and looking for the RSS links and symbol .

3. Organize your feeds - Create 3 folders: News, Government, Personal

 in your reader and put your feeds into those folders. 10 Points

4. Share your feeds – Share 1 feed via Twitter with the hashtag: #PorfidoP_  (enter your period # after the P) If you are private, screenshot the Tweet & email me pic.

Don’t have Twitter? Email me (dporfido@wood-ridgeschools.org) 1 article from your feed by pushing the ‘E’ key.

That will open your default email application and create an email with the headline and link you want to send. In the iPhone/iPad app, if you're viewing the feed list, simply swipe the story headline to the left, and you'll see a menu of icons.  Touch the share icon, and then choose your mail app.  if you're viewing the item itself, simply touch the share icon in the top right of the screen. 10 Points
