“How to” and grading criteria of Google online marketing challenge (GOMC) pre-campaign report

(max: 150 points)

First, navigate the GOMC website and familiarize yourself about this challenge.

http://www.google.com/onlinechallenge/

Second, take a look at the previous challenge winners http://www.google.com/onlinechallenge/past/winners-2015.html

You CANNOT formally submit the proposal during the fall semesters because GOMC happens during spring semesters. However, you are going to learn about the challenge and write a pre-campaign report and submit the report to the professor toward the end of the class.

Tcom2640 students should benchmark previous winners of the challenge and write a pre-campaign report. Three categories of reports are available for students: Business, Google + social media, and social impact. See the previous winner’s pre-campaign reports ( http://www.google.com/onlinechallenge/past/winners-2015.html ). You can reference those reports writing in your topic and client’s areas. You will need to find a client you can interview to get all the information you need to write this report.

If you are going to take Tcom4640 (social media campaign, typically offered in spring semesters) class, you will be able to develop this pre-campaign report further in spring and submit the report for the challenge.

Here are the focus of the report I expect from you. I will use these criteria for the grading.

  1. Get information from your client and contextualize your client needs (50 points)
In other words, you will need to communicate with your client about their needs in digital advertising and/or social media campaign. Describe the background information about your client and their campaign related needs. Details are important. You will need to write concisely and to the point because this report has a 4 page limit.
  2. Learn the concepts in digital advertising and apply the concept in this report (50 points)
The relevant concepts are covered in the class lectures and readings. You will need to understand the concepts and apply them in your report. For instance, you will need to understand concepts such as SEO, Dynamic keyword insertion, CPM, and other relevant concepts that you will need to apply in your report. I will take a look at how you effectively apply the learned concepts in your report.
  3. Clearly state objectives of your campaign (50 points)
You will need to synthesize clients needs and concepts of digital advertising to come up with objectives of your campaign. The objectives should be clearly stated. Ultimately, your goal is to satisfy your client’s needs in digital media campaign. It is necessary to describe the connection between the client’s needs and your digital media strategies that will tackle the specific needs of the clients.
  4. Less than 4 pages. I will not accept the report if it exceeds the page limit.
