This was a ‘song skirmish’ - the goal was to write it in one hour.  I finished in time, but added the second verse later on.

[open G]

The way they wrote my mortgage I didn't stand a chance

I'm so far under water that I got square pants

I'm leaving town on a one-way ticket

If they tell me how to pay I'll tell them where to stick it

I'm leaving town, if they want to they can tear it down

Alt: I was digging in, figured I settle down

But I always kept the keys to the highway around

Alt: I was digging in, I thought I’d never leave

But I never gave away all my highway keys

Alt: Thought I was settled down, a place of my own

But I think I understand when it’s time to go

If they send a bill, I'll rip it up (2x)

I'm leaving town, if they want to they can tear it down

I had a lady and a date all set

I just didn't know the banker laid a sucker bet

I said *girl I'm leaving, I won't be back

I've got *time to talk it over while you help me pack

I'm leaving town, if they want to they can tear it down

I'd explain but you'd rip it up

Send a letter, you'd just rip it up

I'm leaving town, we might as well tear it all down
