The meeting of the Dogwood Chapter FMCA was called to order at 10:05 a.m. at Rockahock in Lanexa, Virginia by President Mann Duff on August 7, 2010.
Mann welcomed a charter member, Amelia Winn and new members, Joyce and Dennis Reid
Mann thanked the hosts of this rally, Barbara and Bobby Dyke and Judy and Terry Davis.
Secretary’s Report: A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the December meeting as read. As an update on the Dogwood’s donation to Habitat for Humanity, Ed Fisher reported that the house would be under roof by next week.
Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Dyke provided a report of the chapters financial activities which was accepted as read. Barbara indicated that the report and supporting details is available for review by any interested Dogwood member. The ending balance in Dogwoods checking account was $3083.27.
Membership VP: Bill Ferrebee had no update. Mann did report we had a decrease in membership due to members’ moves, sold RV’s, etc. There are approximately 52 members now.
National Director: Ed Fisher reported that we were not being represented in Redmond for the meeting.
Newsletter: Carolyn Duff stated she had her lap top with her and she was willing to help anyone who is having difficulty in accessing the Dogwood website. She always needs items for the newsletter. Carol Warthan commented on our top quality newsletter.
Care Person: Marilyn Nolte said she needs to be notified so she can send out cards.
Nominating Committee: Jim Beulow, chair of the nominating committee reported that they have candidates who are willing to serve for most positions. The committee will be working to fill the slate of officers.
President’s Report: Sheryl Wayman has tendered her resignation as VP of Rallies. The Wayman’s have dropped out of FMCA and are selling their RV.
Mann stated the next rally is at Country Waye RV Resort in Luray September 17-19. The hosts are Fairleigh and Cil Schoolar and Butch and Liz Jones. The rally fee is $20 per person. Directions and details of the rally will be included in enews.
GEAR is being held in Winston Salem at the fairgrounds on October 21-24, 2010. Max Hicks is looking for volunteers to drive golf carts. Berkley and Karen are looking for volunteers to be seminar monitors. .
The Urbanna Oyster Festival is November 5-7. Berkley and Karen Alexander are hosts. There are a limited number of sights especially if it is rainy. Please let the Alexander’s know if you plan to attend. (804) 754-1308 or (804) 740-3101.
The Christmas Rally is at Holiday Trav-L-Park in Virginia Beach on December 3-5, 2010. The hosts are Berkley and Karen Alexander, Jim and Susan Buelow, Nancy and Paul Cummings, Dian and Mel Hughes. Watch for updates on the rally.
Mann indicated that he wants to see the planning horizon for rallies extended so that those members who are hosting have a longer time frame for planning and those attending can better plan their schedule. The following is the result of the discussion:
