Grayce’s Bulkogi
This makes enough marinade for 1-2 lb. of meat. Flank steak or tri-tip are recommended, but any cut of beef will do. Steaks are really good, if you have lots of money to spare. Double or triple recipe as needed.
1 T. vinegar (rice vinegar recommended)
2 T. sesame seeds (black or white)
2 T. sesame oil
¼ c. green onions, minced
2 T. garlic, minced
1 T. ginger root, minced or 1/2 t. ground ginger
2 T. sugar
3 T. soy sauce
Sriracha, to taste (optional)
Mix all ingredients in a gallon ziplock bag. If marinating more than 3 or 4 lbs. of meat, you may want to use multiple bags or a 2 gallon bag. Squeeze the bag to dissolve the sugar and distribute the garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds.
OPTIONAL: If desired, slice the meat into thin strips. Partially frozen meat helps get thin, even slices.
Place the meat in the bag in a single layer. Marinate 2 hours to overnight.
Remove meat from marinade and grill over medium-high heat to desired doneness. If using sliced meat, stir-frying is probably a better option. Vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, onions, etc. can be added to stir-fry, if desired).
Serve with sticky rice.
