New Directions is now accepting proposals for the Spring 2013 symposium. This year’s theme is “Hybridity in English Studies,” and we’re looking for presentations which address the exploration of hybrid genres within all fields of English Studies. We welcome proposals including, but not limited to:
Symposium presentations are open to all graduate students from Illinois State University, as well as graduate students attending programs related to English Studies at nearby universities. Proposals can be submitted via our
All proposals should include the completed online form including presenter’s name, presentation title, e-mail address, technology needs, and a brief biography for each presenter (no longer than 150 words each). Individual Proposals should include a maximum 250-word abstract describing the topic to be addressed and how it explores the theme of hybrid genres. Panel and Roundtable Proposals should include a 250- to 500-word abstract describing the significance of the panel/roundtable topic and each presentation. Please do not include your name or other identifying information within the body of your abstract.

The symposium is a supportive environment for innovative, creative, and pedagogical research in English Studies. Here you can share your individual research interests with a variety of scholars within English departments from central Illinois.
