Results from “The Farmers Are Planning” Survey 2011
The farmers were thumbing through seed catalogs. Looking through the pages of tomatoes alone they contemplated growing Beefsteak, Green Velvet, Egg Yolk, Brandywine, Gypsy, or even Malakhitovaya Shkatulka tomatoes. They considered what would grow best in our climate and their soil, and then they started to wonder what would fly off the table at farmers markets. That’s when they suggested this survey. We worked together (farmers market manager and farmers) to create and distribute it. 157 folks took time out of their day to fill it out. And now we have the results to share. Perhaps now the farmers won’t be quite so puzzled...
