Email (excerpted), response to PolitiFact Texas, Jacob Limón, deputy executive director, Texas Democratic Party, Dec. 5, 2012

I’m not sure about the past percentages.  Currently (at least since Chairman Hinojosa has taken over), trial lawyers make up a relatively small percentage of our operating budget.  The vast majority comes from sustaining members, email asks etc..   There are individual contributions from lawyers but no where near 80%.

I write because we are checking a claim by Texans for Lawsuit Review. Spokeswoman Sherry Sylvester wrote that personal-injury trial lawyers have “provided over 80 percent of the funding for the Texas Democratic Party for over a decade."

We are seeking Sylvester’s backup information. Would you have information relevant to this claim?
