NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission that we formally recognize Bryan Dunnigan as Volunteer of the Year on behalf of the Eckley Miners’ Village Associates. A resident of the Village and one of its leaders in upholding and maintaining its historical integrity, Bryan started and has maintained the Village’s blacksmithing operation, setting up its shop with historically accurate tools and artifacts, and delighting Village visitors with his ability to bring to life the venerable blacksmithing trade. Bryan is also actively involved with the site’s educational exhibit consisting of a trunk full of historic artifacts like apple corers and period washboards; the trunk and Bryan’s talks fascinate schoolchildren of all ages. Additionally, Bryan has given fresh life to the Village’s Company Store by stocking it with items from his extensive personal collection. The items will be on display throughout the year at the Company Store.
