Verbal Transcript of Lab A2

To the whole class:

Come on in closer, Alright my name is Mr. Snyder I am your substitute teacher today and yeah how is everyone today? What I could barely hear you?

To the whole class:

Alright, so how many people wake up in the morning and make eggs, uh, how many people know how to crack an egg? Everyone! So, someone tell me what happens when you crack it too much? It just goes all over the place, right? And what happens when you just tap it? You do not reach to where you want, right? So, today we are going to learn how to make the proper instep pass in soccer. Okay, so what you want to do is if I could please have a person to demonstrate with over on the other black line. (I show my demonstration first and make a pass to the individual who volunteered)

To the whole class:

Alright, so what you want to do is put your plant foot about 6 inches away from the ball pointing at you target. Then, when you follow through, your foot you want to use your instep. You want to, uh, make contact middle to upper half of the ball.

To the whole class:

So, why why would we want to hit middle to top part of the ball? So, if you hit the bottom of the ball the ball is going to go up, right. Okay, so if you hit the ball with little force what would happen in a game? Yes, the defender will come and take the ball away. And if you hit it with too much force the the, your teammate will have trouble trapping it or it will be less accurate right. So, when you go you want your upper body square to the ball and your chest slightly over the ball, okay and when you follow through you want you want your momentum to go forward, alright.

To the whole class:

If we could break up into two groups of four, preferably from this black line to this black line. Two people on this side and two people on this side for each group. All you are going to do is pass the ball and follow your pass and go to the back of the line. Okay, begin!

To the whole class:

Good job! Remember to put your plant foot next to the target and crack the egg. Put enough pace on it, but not too light either, you don’t want the defense to steal the ball. Good job, well done! Okay, freeze!

To the whole class:

Now, within your group you need, we are going to play monkey in the middle three people and then one person in the middle. We have to try and keep it away from him, okay.

To the two defenders:

Come on defenders work! Lets work defenders.

To the whole class:

Okay, guys bring it in, bring it in. So, what can you guys tell me about how to make a correct soccer pass.

To Matt H:

That is right you do not want to break the egg.

To the whole class:

Yeah, keep the body slightly over.

To George:

Yeah

To Rob:

That’s right!

To the whole class:

Okay, guys in, team on three! 1,2,3 Team!
